Domenico Massironi

Curriculum Vitae
He is an active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, an active member of the American Academy of Microscopy, and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists; he’s a Member Emeritus of Amici di Brugg and an active member of the Digital Dentistry Society. He wrote “Precision in prosthetic restoration” with A. Battistelli and R. Pascetta (Quintessence) and “Precision in dental aesthetics” with R. Pascetta and G. Romeo (Quintessence) and translated into seven languages. He has used the stereomicroscope since 1988.

 

Alessandro Conti

Alessandro Conti graduated magna cum laude in Dentistry from the University of Pavia. He is a visiting professor at the University of Pavia (Department of Restorative
Dentistry) and at the Eastman Dental Institute (UCL-London). He has held courses and congresses both in Italy and abroad, and he is the author of scientific publications in peer-reviewed dental journals. He is an active member of the Italian Academy of Restorative and Conservative Dentistry (AIC), Italian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and an ambassador of the British Academy of Microscope Dentistry (BAMD). Dr. Conti has established his private practice in northern Italy, collaborating with Dr. Domenico Massironi, Carlo Ghezzi, and Roberto Rossi. His practice is limited to esthetic restorative dentistry and fixed prosthetics.

 

Marko Jakovac

Marko Jakovac was born on October 4th, 1974, in Zagreb, where he finished primary and secondary school. He graduated in 1993, and in the same year, he entered the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Zagreb. The Ministry of Science and Technology awarded him a scholarship in 1997 due to his high grade point average during his studies. In 1998, he graduated from the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb , and began his internship. In 1999, he passed the state exam. In the same year, he enrolled in postgraduate studies in the field of dentistry. He was admitted to the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, as a junior research assistant in 2001. In 2002, he became an assistant and began his specialization in the Department of Prosthodontics. He received his master’s degree in 2003. In 2005, he passed the specialist exam. He defended his doctoral dissertation in 2008. Since 2009, he has been an assistant professor at the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics and head of the course for professional development of doctors of dental medicine called “Advanced preparation techniques in fixed prosthodontics”. Since 2010, he has been the head of the post-graduate course “Aesthetics of fixed prosthodontic restorations on teeth and implants”. Since 2012, he has been the holder of the undergraduate course “Preclinical and laboratory fixed prosthodontics”. He won the dean’s award for the best teacher in 2013 and introduced a new undergraduate course, “Microscope in dental medicine”. Since 2015, he has been an associate professor at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb, and since 2018, Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies. He was the head of the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics from 2021 to 2024, and from then on, head of the course Fixed Prosthodontics 2. Since 2023, he has been a full-time professor at the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics. He is the author of the book “Protocol- Standardisation in Fixed Prosthodontics”, “Protokol”, textbook “Preclinical and Laboratory Fixed Prosthodontics”, and has written numerous chapters in other textbooks at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb. As an author and co-author, he wrote several scientific and professional papers. He is a mentor for more than 30 graduate theses and 5 master’s degrees. He participated in numerous projects and grants in the Republic of Croatia. He is a lecturer and organizer at a large number of international and domestic congresses and courses for the permanent training of doctors of dental medicine. He cooperates and teaches as a KOL with companies such as IvoclarVivadent, Carl Zeiss, and DentsplySirona.  He is a founder and vice-president of the Croatian Society of Minimal Intervention in Dental Medicine, founder of the European Academy of Digital Dentistry, and a member of the Croatian Prosthodontic Society, the Croatian Society for Dental Implantology, the Croatian Medical Association, and the Croatian Chamber of Dental Medicine. Lastly, he is the owner of Aesthetica polyclinic and Ae Vision educational centre.

 

Domagoj Vražić

Domagoj Vražić, Associate Professor at the Department of Periodontology at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. He graduated as a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2007, and has been working at his current position since 2009. He specialized in periodontology in 2014 and earned his PhD degree in 2015. He teaches undergraduate courses in Preclinical and Clinical Periodontology in both the Croatian and English programs at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb, as well as the elective course on Peri-implant Diseases, and also participates in postgraduate teaching. Since 2024, he serves as the Head of the Department of Periodontology at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. His research and clinical interests include periodontology, regenerative biomaterials, and various treatment modalities for peri-implant diseases and conditions. He is the author of several scientific and professional papers and a collaborator on several projects. He regularly actively participates in international scientific and professional conferences both in the country and abroad. In 2010, he attended scientific and professional training at the Department of Periodontology at the Faculty of Dentistry in Heidelberg, Germany. He is a member and treasurer of the Croatian Society of Periodontology and a member of the European Federation of Periodontology.

Hrvoje Jurić

Curriculum Vita
Hrvoje Jurić was born on April 28, 1971, in Vinkovci, where he completed his primary and secondary education. He enrolled at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, in the academic year 1990/91 and graduated in July 1995. He defended his master’s thesis in 1999 and his doctoral dissertation in 2002. In 2018, he was appointed Full Professor with tenure. To date, he has published more than 100 scientific papers and is the author or co-author of 13 university textbooks. For over 20 years, he has participated in continuing education for doctors of dental medicine, delivering more than 250 lectures and hands-on courses. He is a member of numerous national and international professional associations and societies, including the Croatian Dental Chamber, Croatian Dental Society of the Croatian Medical Association, Croatian Society of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry of the Croatian Medical Association, Croatian Endodontic Society, European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry, European Society of Endodontics, International Association of Dental Traumatology, the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry, and the Organisation for Caries Research. Since 2015, he has served as President of the Croatian Dental Society and as Secretary of the Croatian Society of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry of the Croatian Medical Association. He has been Head of the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, since 2014. Since 2024, he has served as Vice-Dean for Integrated Studies and Students. His main fields of interest include caries prevention, chemical and mechanical plaque control, oral microbiology, endodontic procedures in primary and young permanent teeth, dental traumatology, and aesthetic reconstructive procedures.

 

Zoran Karlović

Zoran Karlović is employed as a full professor in the Department of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Zagreb and at the Clinic of Dentistry, Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb. He is a lecturer in the Department of Dentistry at the Faculty of Medicine in Mostar. He is the head of the course at the postgraduate doctoral study entitled “Endodontic Surgery: Contemporary Approach, Methods and Materials” at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and the head of the course “Endodontic Microsurgery” at the professional postgraduate study in Endodontics, Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. He is the author of several scientific and professional papers published in domestic and foreign journals.
His areas of interest are endodontic surgery, dental traumatology, dental implantology, and hospital dentistry, as well as working with children with developmental disabilities, in which he has received education and given several invited lectures at home and abroad.

Rafael Piñerio Sande

Rafael Piñerio Sande obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1996. From 1997 to 2001, he worked as a Clinical Tutor at the same university, during which time he also completed postgraduate studies in Orthodontics and Oral Implantology. Throughout his professional career, he has achieved the status of International Opinion Leader of the Ivoclar Academy and Key Opinion Leader of the Dental Zeiss Academy. He has delivered more than 100 hands-on courses in aesthetic dentistry at both national and international levels and is the Founding President of the Galician Association of Dental Training. He has authored scientific and professional articles published nationally and internationally on topics related to aesthetic dentistry and microscopic dentistry. He is a member of several scientific societies, including SEPES, ITI, and the European Society of Microscopic Dentistry (ESMD). He served as the Spanish Ambassador for the European Society of Microscopic Dentistry (ESMD) congresses held in Barcelona in 2014 and Vilnius in 2016. In 2010, he received the SEPES Award for Best Oral Communication. He is an invited professor in postgraduate programs at various national and international universities. He runs a private practice in Vigo dedicated to aesthetic oral rehabilitation.

 

Ivica Pelivan

Ivica Pelivan was born in 1978 in Bugojno. He completed primary school and high school in Trogir and in 1997 enrolled in the study of dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb. He graduated in 2003 and began his internship at the Dental Polyclinic in Split. He has been working as a research assistant at the Faculty of Dentistry in Zagreb since February 2004. He earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees from the same faculty in 2008 and 2010, respectively. He completed his specialisation in dental prosthetics in 2010. He was elected to the scientific and teaching title of assistant professor in 2014 and to the title of associate professor in 2020 at the Department of Removable Prosthodontics. He is a lecturer for continuing education courses, an invited speaker at international congresses, and the author and co-author of scientific and professional papers.

 

Larisa Musić

Curriculum Vitae
Larisa Music earned her dental degree from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Zagreb, where she has since focused her clinical and scientific career on periodontology. She completed her specialist training in periodontology at the Clinical Hospital Centre Zagreb and went on to earn a PhD in the same field, with research centred on oral probiotics and the treatment of halitosis. In addition, she completed a postgraduate university specialist program in Dental implantology and Dental medicine. Since 2015, she has been part of the Department of Periodontology at the University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine, first as a teaching and research assistant, then as a postdoctoral researcher in 2021, and currently as an assistant professor since 2024. She is actively involved in the department’s teaching, clinical, and research efforts. She teaches in the integrated undergraduate and graduate dental programs in both Croatian and English, as well as in postgraduate specialist programs in Dental implantology, Restorative dental medicine and endodontics, and Dental prosthodontics. She also contributes to the continuing education courses. Her research interests are in adjuncts to non-surgical treatment of periodontitis and halitosis, and she has served as the primary clinical therapist–co–investigator in several single- and multicenter RCTs. She plays an active role in professional organisations, serving as the secretary of the Croatian Society of Periodontology and as a board member of the Croatian Society for Aesthetic Dental Medicine.

 

Reinhard Hickel

Reinhard Hickel was born in 1955, is married, and has three children. From May 2015 to January 2024, he served as Chair of the Dental School as well as Vice Dean and Dean of the Medical Faculty. Between May 2013 and January 2024, he was Chairman of the Executive Board of the University Hospital. From August 1992 until January 2024, he held the position of Full Professor and Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry, Periodontology, and Paediatric Dentistry.
From 2005 to 2022, he was a member of the Board of IADR-CED, including serving as President from 2008 to 2010. From 2010 to 2012, he was President of the European Section of the Academy of Operative Dentistry (AOD), and from 2001 to 2003, he served as the first President of the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry (EFCD). Between 2006 and 2008, he was President of the German Association for Dental Education. Since 2008, he has been an honorary member of the German Association for Conservative Dentistry.
He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Hollenback Award of the Academy of Operative Dentistry in 2012 in Chicago, the Ryge-Mahler Award of the IADR Dental Materials Group for clinical research in 2013 in Seattle, the Award of Excellence of the Academy of Operative Dentistry European Section in 2015, and the Award of Excellence of the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry in 2019. Since 2014, he has been a member of Leopoldina, the German National Academy of Sciences. Since 2015, he has held the title of Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Zagreb, and since 2017, Honorary Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2020, he received the Golden Medal of Honour of the German Dental Association, and in 2023, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit by the Federal President of Germany. He has delivered numerous honorary, distinguished, and invited lectures in the United States, Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Thailand, India, South Africa, Israel, Turkey, and many European countries. His main research interests include the development of new restorative materials, particularly composite, glass ionomer cement, and ceramic restorations, minimally invasive dentistry, and novel diagnostic systems. He is the author of more than 600 scientific publications, six books, and 25 book chapters, with an h-index of 86 and more than 25,000 citations.
